More than 200 post office branches will remain open across Sussex
|
Forty-one post offices across East and West Sussex are to close after a public consultation which ended in December.
Post Office Ltd said the first would be effective from March, with outreach solutions replacing another two sites.
Gary Herbert, network development manager for Sussex, said: "These are difficult decisions which have not been taken lightly."
Postwatch, which represents Post Office customers, is reviewing the proposed closure of another eight branches.
At the start of the public consultation the Post Office said more than 99% of the area's population would either see no change, or would remain within a mile of a branch.
The government said cuts were needed because the post office network was losing £4m weekly.
During the six-week process, the Post Office received about 6,600 responses and attended 26 meetings with customers.
Mr Herbert said the comments made had been considered very carefully.
"We believe that the amended plan offers our customers across Sussex the best prospect for a sustainable network in the future," he said.
