Body found in search for canoeist
Police divers searching for a canoeist whose boat capsized in a canal in East Sussex have found a body.

The 36-year-old man was last seen clinging to his canoe and struggling with the current in the Royal Military Canal in Playden on Sunday afternoon.

A Sussex Police spokesman said the body was found about 30 yards from where the canoeist was last seen at 1600 GMT.

His canoe was found on Sunday following a search of the water by Sussex Police and the fire service and coastguard.

Police resumed the hunt for the missing man using a specialist underwater team and helicopter on Monday.
