Top grades for real Billy Elliot
Billy Elliot
Jamie Bell won a Bafta for his performance as Billy Elliot
A teenager who managed to juggle ballet performances alongside academic studies has secured 11 top GCSE grades.

Daniel Chard, 16, of Findon, near Worthing, West Sussex, gained 11 A*s, the highest results in his year at Brighton College, East Sussex.

The real-life Billy Elliot, who wants to make a career in the performing arts after university, spends about three hours a week doing ballet.

Daniel plans to start A-levels at the college's sixth form in September.

He said: "Dance has always been something that I've been fascinated with.

"I'm not a very sporty boy and I suppose I have different interests to most teenage boys.

"But for me ballet is a natural passion which I feel happy doing. It has been difficult juggling dance with my studies but fortunately it has all paid off.

I'm still trying to take it in," he added.
