The team stripped off to raise funds for charity
A football team that stripped off for a charity calendar in Sussex could be given a dressing down following complaints from members of the public.

Buxted Football Club posed nude on the pitch to raise funds for the ground and water charity "fresh2o", the team said.

But it said residents who saw the photo shoot taking place complained to Buxted Parish Council, which owns the land.

The council said the shoot would be discussed at a meeting alongside issues such as the pavilion and insurance.

Buxted FC chairman Derek McDougall said: "It appears that some local residents complained about the sight of a lot of naked men and now the council wants to know what's the score.

It is not about men frolicking naked. They should have sought permission
Councillor Alison Crowe

"It appears that whilst we did inform the parish council about the photo shoot, we didn't tell them about the nudity.

"If anyone has been upset, we'll apologise but I hope it's not a huge problem.".

But councillor Alison Crowe said: "It is not about men frolicking naked. They should have sought permission.

"We are not aware that any offence was caused."

Ground rules

Ms Crowe said: "The parish council has a meeting which has been long-planned on fundamental issues."

She said discussions would look at the pavilion lease, insurance, and "agree on ground rules", as well as tackle the matter of the calendar shoot.

"It's symptomatic of other things," she said.

"They are using the village green as if it's their own property instead of seeking the necessary permission.

"Anyone using the green to do anything has to write to the parish council for insurance requirements, so the parish council can be aware."
