Airport holiday strike called off
Gatwick Airport
Staff at Gatwick Refuelling Services threatened to disrupt flights
Bank holiday strikes threatened by workers who refuel aircraft at Gatwick Airport have been called off.

A dispute over pay and union recognition was resolved after talks involving conciliation service, Acas.

The Transport and General Workers' Union (T&G) said it would now begin wage negotiations with the employer, Gatwick Refuelling Services (GRS).

The union had called strikes running up to the May Bank Holiday weekend, which it said would disrupt flights.

The 15 refuelling staff employed by GRS were to walk out on Wednesday 2 May, Friday 4 May and Saturday 5 May.

"We now hope to build a meaningful industrial relationship with GRS as we pursue our talks on pay," said T&G spokesman Kevin Hall.
