Surrey Police said the security guards were left deeply shocked

Police have released CCTV images following a "frightening" attempted robbery at a bank in Surrey.

Two men smashed locked foyer glass doors and began shouting while security guards refilled a cash machine at a bank in High Street, Redhill.

Officers said the would-be robbers fled empty handed when the guards activated an alarm.

The pair were both described as being black, in their early 20s, 5ft 10in (1.77m) tall and wearing dark clothing.

Surrey Police said the security guards were unhurt and no weapon was seen.

'Frightening ordeal'

Det Con Rachael Pearson said: "Although we cannot clearly see the suspects' faces, I am appealing to members of the community to look at these images and, if you can help identify these men, then please come forward.

"Redhill has a busy night-time economy and I am appealing to anyone who was near the High Street on Friday evening, between 11pm and 11.30pm who may have seen three men loitering around to come forward."

She added: "Although not injured, the two security guards were deeply shocked after experiencing such a frightening ordeal and it is vital we find and arrest these men as quickly as possible."

One suspect was said to be wearing a black jacket with a hood and a black bandana and the second suspect was described as wearing a dark green hooded coat and a black bandana.
