Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has appointed a new chairman.

Ian Williams will take over from Roy Davies in January and hold the post for four years.

Mr Williams, who lives in Cuckfield, West Sussex, previously worked for Andersen Consulting, now called Accenture, and the World Bank.

Chief Executive Gail Wannell praised the work of outgoing chairman Roy Davies for supporting and successfully contributing to the trust.

She added: "Our services at East Surrey and other hospital sites in Surrey and West Sussex have improved significantly in recent years and we are committed to continue providing and developing quality care for patients.

"I will work closely with Ian and the board making the best use of resources in these challenging economic times."
