Attempted theft at cash machine

Two men have tried to grab a money bag from a security officer who was about to fill up a cash machine at a NatWest bank in Surrey.

Police said the security officer managed to stop the would-be thieves taking the bag in Dorking High Street on Thursday afternoon.

The two men loitered nearby as the security guard was about to replenish the machine, officers said.

After the incident, they ran away down an alleyway to a waiting car.

Police said no-one was injured during the incident, and no weapons were used.

Det Con Nicola Finlayson said: "We believe the suspects were hanging around in the High Street before the incident so I am keen to hear from anyone who may have spotted these two men."

Both men were in their late teens or early 20s, one was black and one was white. One had a black cap and a black hooded top. The other wore a woolly hat with flaps over his ears, and a black hooded top.
