Residents object to school homes

Members of the public have been invited to address a council meeting which will consider plans to build 60 homes on the site of a former school in Surrey.

Surrey Heath Borough Council said it had received 71 objections to the plans for 38 houses and 22 flats at Clewborough House School, Frimley.

The number of objections means two speakers will be allowed to address the meeting on 16 November.

The committee is likely to defer a decision for at least three months.

Register interest

The former school in St Catherine's Road, which has been vacant for some years, would be demolished to make way for the housing.

The plans include two children's play areas and public open space on the former school playing fields.

A previous plan for 67 homes on the site was rejected following a planning appeal.

Residents who want to speak at the meeting have until midday on Tuesday to register their interest.
