Unexploded wartime bomb made safe

An unexploded World War II bomb has been made safe after it was found near a play area in Surrey.

Police were called to Ford Road in Old Woking on Sunday morning after some youngsters were seen playing with it.

A local football match was called off, and a safety cordon was put in place as residents were advised to stay indoors.

Bomb disposal experts took the 101b (4.5kg) device to army land near Deepcut Barracks, where a controlled explosion was carried out.
