Motorist dies in tree collision

A driver died when he failed to negotiate a bend and crashed into a tree in Surrey, police said.

The crash in Lingfield happened on the B2029 Godstone Road, near the Lingfield Common Road junction shortly after 1900 GMT on Friday.

The Ford Fiesta was travelling north towards South Godstone at the time. No other vehicles were involved.

A Surrey Police spokesperson issued an appeal for witnesses to contact the force.
