Man held over pizza shop attack

A man has been arrested after another man was attacked with a "weapon" in a pizza shop in Surrey.

Surrey Police said the victim received a head injury during the incident in the takeaway in Chessington Road, Ewell, at about 1600 BST on Wednesday.

The fight then moved outside and the victim, aged in his 20s, is said to have been driven away in a car after a woman shouted at the suspect.

He was later treated at Epsom General Hospital for a head wound.

'Unprovoked assault'

Officers believe the suspect, also aged in his 20s, is known to the victim and have appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

Det Insp Jackie Elkins said: "This was a nasty and unprovoked assault on a man in broad daylight in what would have been a busy part of west Ewell.

"I do not believe this was a random attack and my officers have already made a significant arrest.

"I am specifically appealing to the woman who shouted at the suspect to leave the victim alone to come forward. She is described as wearing a white top - was that you?"
