Seven alleged sex workers were found during the raids, police said.

Police investigating the activities of a Surrey couple in connection with alleged people-trafficking for sex have raided premises in the Home Counties.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Vice Unit, Gloucestershire and Surrey police conducted nine search warrants.

Three cars were seized as the pair, a woman of 55 and a man of 43, were held in Leatherhead, and their homes in Gloucestershire were also searched.

Five others were also arrested and seven suspected sex workers were found.

The further arrests were made as police targeted those alleged to be involved in running brothels - a 46-year-old man in Epsom and a 32-year-old man in Berkshire.

Three people were also arrested at premises in West Sunbury and West Drayton.

Police said four suspected brothels were shut down where women, mainly from Eastern Europe and East Asia, were found.
