Machinery worth £150,000 stolen

Machinery worth £150,000 and a hired lorry have been stolen from a garden equipment supplier.

Thieves took equipment including 100 chainsaws, 60 leaf blowers, 70 garden strimmers and a lawnmower from Honey Brothers in New Pond Road, Guildford.

Surrey Police said stolen tree harnesses were rare brands only stocked by two companies in the UK.

The company said on its website that it was out of business for 24 hours following the raid on Tuesday night.

It said it was unable to ship any orders on Wednesday because of damage to electricity supplies and telephone lines in the burglary.

Det Con Alex Boxall appealed for anyone with information about the raid to come forward.

The tree harnesses were from the Tree Motion and Austrian Duo3 brands and the white lorry, GN55 VEO, belonged to Kendall van hire.

"If you are in the trade and know who might be selling these items please contact Surrey Police so we can bring the offenders to justice," he said.

Honey Brothers said it was resuming normal business on Thursday.
