Dead woman 'did not make enemies'

Kirsty Wilson's body was set alight with petrol, the court has heard

The father of a Mercedes executive allegedly murdered by her partner has told the Old Bailey she was not the sort of person who made enemies.

"She was popular and she was gorgeous," Peter Wilson said, breaking down as he described his daughter Kirsty, 34.

Alan Jermey, 41, denies murdering Miss Wilson at their home in Woking, Surrey.

Miss Wilson was planning to leave Mr Jermey for Simon Goddard, her boss at the garage in Basingstoke, Hampshire, where she worked.

Her mother, Sandra, said Mr Jermey was "a bit obsessive" about Miss Wilson.

She said she'd fallen in love with someone else and that Alan had neglected her

"When I would say 'that's a pretty girl on the television' he would say 'she's not as nice as Kirsty, there's nobody as nice as Kirsty'.

"He thought she's really something special," she said.

The court was told Mr and Mrs Wilson saw their daughter a week before she died, when they visited from their home in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

They knew she was planning to leave Mr Jermey and that the house, in Greenmeads, was going to be put up for sale, the jury was told.

Mr Wilson was at the house, looking after the couple's two children, when a package arrived from Germany.

The jury heard it contained a 100,000V stun gun, CS and pepper spray and a 21-inch steel extendable baton.

He said he signed for the parcel, which was in his daughter's name, but Mr Jermey went off with it, saying: "It's mine, I ordered it in Kirsty's name."

Behaviour changed

Mr Wilson said that previously when he and his wife had visited his daughter Mr Jermey would come in from work and not even say hello to them before going out to martial arts classes.

But on the last visit his behaviour changed.

"He was trying to be nice to us. He was trying to make an impression, I presume, on Kirsty."

Mr Wilson said his daughter introduced him and his wife to Mr Goddard.

Mrs Wilson said she had noticed problems between her daughter and Mr Jermey over the past few years and said: "There wasn't a lot of love in the house."

Miss Wilson had come to visit them at Easter before she died, said her mother.

"She said she'd fallen in love with someone else and that Alan had neglected her. She was very happy."

Mr Jermey had been trying to change her mind, she said, but she was not interested.

The trial continues.
