Five seriously injured in crash

Five people were seriously injured when their car hit a tree in Surrey.

Police said the Ford Focus entered a right-hand bend but the driver "lost control and smashed head-on into a tree".

The five people in the car were taken to hospital for treatment but the extent of their injuries is not known.

The crash happened on Sandy Lane, Cobham at about 0105 BST. No other vehicles were involved but police have appealed for witnesses.
