A cleaner accused of stabbing to death an 81-year-old woman has appeared before the Old Bailey.

Nicola Bushnell, 43, of Middleton Road, Epsom, Surrey, denies murdering retired police administrator Joyce Cregeen.

Mrs Cregeen was found dead with multiple stab wounds at her home in Sefton Road, Epsom, in May.

Ms Bushnell was granted bail to return to the court to face trial in June. She also denies withdrawing £60 in cash using Mrs Cregeen's bank card.

She is accused of three counts of fraud by false representation relating to cash withdrawals.

Mrs Cregeen, a mother of one, had lived alone following the death of her husband Arthur in 1997.
