Bogus callers lie about firework

Police in Surrey have issued a warning about distraction burglars after an incident in which a pensioner was told of a dangerous firework in her garden.

It happened at an address in Dudley Close, Addlestone, when, after going outside to investigate, the 76-year-old returned to find a man in her kitchen.

He then fled the scene with his accomplice, but police said it did not appear anything had been stolen.

Officers said the incident left the victim shaken and frightened.
