Officers executed warrants at 13 addresses in three counties

Nine people have been arrested following Surrey Police raids on properties in three counties.

Officers executed warrants at 13 addresses in Stanwell, Addlestone and Ashford in Surrey, Maidenhead in Berkshire and Feltham in London.

The raids were part of Operation Shield, which targets criminals coming into Surrey from other counties.

The arrests were over robbery, burglary and theft of high value cars, often worth more than £50,000, police said.

Officers had recovered 16 vehicles, Det Ch Insp Gary Sumner said.

He added: "Criminals have been ignoring borders."

And he said the raids were "part of an ongoing programme in which we are targeting the most active travelling criminals".

He said more than a hundred officers were involved in Tuesday's operation, which followed intensive intelligence gathering and undercover work.
