Glaucoma can lead to a restriction in the field of vision

A Surrey-based charity has managed to raise £28,000 to fund hospital equipment to help people with glaucoma.

The eye clinic at St Peter's Hospital, in Chertsey, now has a Heidelberg Retinal Tomographer, thanks to the fundraising efforts of Eyes Right.

It will help to improve the quality and care given to patients using three dimensional images to view the optic nerve which feeds images to the brain.

Glaucoma can lead to a restriction in the field of vision if not diagnosed.

Eyes Right, run by local businesswoman Frances Davies, raised the money through events such as concerts and sponsored walks.

"As a patient myself I know that this machine will greatly help patients with glaucoma whilst being much easier for patients to use in comparison to the 'fields test', which is also checking for damage to the optic nerve," she said.
