Attackers cut victim with blade

A 29-year-old man was slashed on his face and hand with a blade when he was attacked by two men in Surrey who demanded in his mobile phone.

The assault happened on Thursday morning in Roseberry Park, Ashley Road, Epsom after the man refused to hand over his mobile.

The victim received a series of deep scratches but the men ran off towards Ashley Road when he fought back.

"This was an unprovoked and violent attack," said Det Con Chris Tiffin.

"Officers are carrying out a number of enquiries including reviewing CCTV footage from the area.

"But we need the community to come forward and assist us further."

Self-defence

A Surrey Police spokeswoman said the victim managed to dodge punches from the assailants.

But he punched one of them in self-defence, and bent back the arm of the other before they escaped.

Both were described as very dark-skinned black men, of medium build and aged between 20 and 30.

One was wearing a grey hooded top, black cap, dark blue jeans and white trainers and the other a black hooded top with Lonsdale in white across the front, dark blue jeans and white trainers.
