Man is arrested after fatal blaze

A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 34-year-old woman died in a fire at her home.

Emergency teams, who were called to the blaze in Woking in Surrey just after midnight found the woman, who has not yet been named, dead at the scene.

Two children and a man were taken to St Peters Hospital, Chertsey, where they were treated for smoke inhalation and discharged early on Wednesday.

A post-mortem examination is being carried out on the woman.

Investigators from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene with police to establish the cause of the fire, which is believed to have been started deliberately.

The man, from Woking, was arrested at about 0300 BST on Wednesday.
