Mears and Madeley at book event

The organisers of the Guildford Book Festival have announced the line-up for this year's event.

Ray Mears, Jackie Collins, Chris Patten, Gerald Scarfe and Richard Madeley will take part in the festival, which is now in its 19th year.

The centenary of the Mills & Boon novels will also be marked at event which is held at venues in the town.

Its organisers say it is the biggest "pure literary" festival in the south of England.

The Guildford Book Festival runs from Thursday 16 October until Saturday 25 October.
