Man who helped teenager attacked

A teenage girl may have vital clues to help catch a gang of men who attacked a man who tried to help her.

The 23-year-old man went to the girl's aid when he heard her calling for help in an alleyway between Egerton Road and Southway, Guildford, police said.

He saw three men holding her against a fence but they turned on him when he shouted at them to leave her alone.

The man was punched to the ground and received a split to the back of his neck which needed six stitches.

His attackers ran off towards Southway, followed by the girl.

Blonde-haired

Surrey Police released information on Friday about the attack, which happened on the evening of 28 April.

"We are very keen to speak to the female involved, so we can catch those responsible for this offence," said Det Con Simon Paterson.

The girl is described as white, 5ft 3in, with shoulder-length blonde hair.

Two of the attackers are described as black, in their early 20s, and about 6ft tall and stocky.

They were both wearing dark clothing and one had a black cap with a red peak and NY in white on the front.

The third suspect was white, also in his early 20s, and about 5ft 8in and skinny with dark cropped hair. He was wearing dark trousers and a dark hoodie.
