Thieves raid same bookmaker twice

Coral shop (generic)
Both robberies took place between Sunday evening and Monday morning

Thieves have stolen thousands of pounds from a Surrey bookmaker's for the second time in a week.

The offenders took a safe containing 10,406 in cash from Corals in The Square, Lightwater, between Sunday evening and Monday morning.

They broke into the shop by removing a glass pane from the front door before forcibly removing the bolted down safe.

A week previously, raiders stole a freestanding safe containing 8,000 from the same premises.

Both burglaries took place between Sunday evening and Monday morning.

Surrey Police said it believed the two raids were related.

"This crime is being linked to a similar offence the week before, but the latest burglary demonstrated a less intrusive break-in," a spokesman said.

Officers have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
