Four men are being questioned at police stations across Surrey after specially trained officers foiled a robbery at a jeweller's shop in Oxted.

Police were lying in wait for raiders who targeted Decorus jewellers in Station Road on Wednesday morning.

They intercepted the gang, from London, who were wielding baseball bats.

Two officers injured in the operation were taken to hospital, one with a suspected broken ankle and one with a suspected broken wrist.

A spokesman for Surrey Police said the specialist tactical support team was helping an operation aimed at robbers from outside the county.

Four vehicles recovered from the scene are being examined by forensic science officers.
