'Underage firework sales' probed
Three traders in Surrey are being investigated after an undercover operation found them allegedly selling fireworks to children.

Surrey Trading Standards officers sent volunteers aged under 18 into 30 retail premises around the county.

They said those now being investigated could face a maximum punishment of six months in prison or a £5,000 fine.

More than 100 stores also had visits to check how fireworks were stored, with just a few being given advice.

County trading standards officer Peter Denard said: "We will take action against any traders flouting the law."
