Kennie Williams died in hospital two days after he was attacked

A 25-year-old man died after being repeatedly beaten about the head with a brandy bottle, a court heard.

The Old Bailey jury was told it did not smash and made a "crunch" sound as it connected with Kennie Williams head.

Mr Williams, of Reigate, Surrey, died from brain injuries and multiple fractures to his body in February 2007.

Jamie Ramirez, 30, of Hackney, east London, his brother Hernan Ramirez, 29, of Crawley, Sussex, and Paul Day, 27, of Redhill, Surrey, all deny murder.

The court were told Mr Williams' girlfriend Katrina Sinnick and young daughter witnessed the attack at their flat in Reigate.

Sasha Wass QC, prosecuting, said: "Kennie Williams was subjected to a sustained attack while he was either sitting or lying on the sofa."

She said the victim and defendants finished a brandy bottle between them but there was a "tense" atmosphere at the house before Mr Williams, who was a drug dealer, was killed.

Miss Wass said Hernan Ramirez and Jamie Ramirez used the bottle as weapon to attack him.

"It hit Mr Williams on the left side of his temple and it made a crunch sound. Paul Day sat there looking at what was going on but saying nothing," she told the court.

She said Mr Day told Miss Sinnick that her boyfriend had been taking their customers and "ripping them off".

Miss Sinnick was told to get out, to count to 200 before calling an ambulance and to tell police that three masked men had burst through the door, Miss Wass said.

She said when Miss Sinnick saw her boyfriend his face was unrecognisable and covered in blood.
