CCTV images from Surrey Police
CCTV images of four people have been issued by the force
A taxi driver was left with multiple fractures to his jaw after he was attacked and hit in the face.

He picked up two men and two women in Guildford early on Saturday. They asked him to take them to a hotel but on arrival they refused to pay the fare.

There was a "short conversation" then the driver was hit, Surrey Police said.

The man was taken to hospital where he had a metal plate inserted in his jaw. Officers have issued CCTV images of people they want to speak to.

This was a vicious assault
Det Con Christian Mickley

Det Con Christian Mickley said the four passengers boarded the taxi at the rank in North Street, and the assault took place at about 0315 BST.

During the journey to the Premier Travel Inn in the Parkway, the group requested a stop at the Total garage in Worplesdon Road, he added.

In an appeal for witnesses, he said the group made off after the attack in the hotel car park.

"This was a vicious assault and we are determined to trace those responsible," Mr Mickley added.
