Police said the rapist may have connections in the area
About 20 dog walkers and passers-by have been interviewed by police hunting a rapist who attacked a 16-year-old girl on a secluded footpath in Surrey.

Police were looking for possible witnesses to the attack, on common land near Ivy Road recreation ground, Ash, one week after it took place on 21 May.

The path leads to a footbridge across the A331 Blackwater Valley Route.

The rapist is described as between 20 and 25 and believed to be a foreign national who speaks little English.

'Connections in area'

"Stranger attacks of this nature are very unusual in Surrey and we are grateful for the help from the community to resolve the case," said Det Insp John Cable.

"However, we are still looking for more information to help solve this nasty attack.

"The location is popular with local dog walkers and pedestrians although it is fairly secluded.

"The man may have connections in the area and someone may know who he is."

The attacker was 5ft 6in tall, with skinny build, short dark hair, brown eyes, tanned appearance and long, dirty fingernails.

He had a gold hooped earring in his left ear and a scar on his right cheek.
