Pub perplexed by mystery 'spirit'
Red Lion public house Egham
There have been some strange goings-on at the Red Lion in Egham
A Surrey pub built in 1521 is calling in a medium to find out what is behind spooky goings-on in the ladies' loo.

Kevin and Katy Carter, licensees of the Red Lion, in Egham High Street, say a hand drier switches on for no reason and their dog is scared to go near it.

They were also woken by banging in the night and when Mr Carter investigated, CCTV pictures showed a light fitting being "thrown" across the bar.

The couple plan to contact a psychic "to see if there is anything present".

Mrs Carter said: "Every time we went near the ladies' toilets the hand drier kept going off for no apparent reason.

Logical explanation

"The dog got very spooked when he went near, his hackles went up, he started growling, then he ran away.

"Whatever it was, it really scared him."

Mr Carter heard banging in the middle of the night and raced down to the office, where he saw the light fitting flying across the bar at a 45 degree angle.

Mrs Carter said: "He saw the light fitting being literally thrown across the room.

"If there is a logical explanation, then please, somebody tell me but I really don't know.

"We have been given the name of a local lady that can come down to see if there is anything present so we are going to be giving her a ring."
