New vehicle-activated speed signs are being installed at locations in Surrey which has seen a total of 157 injuries caused by road accidents since 2003.
The county council bought 16 signs with money donated by the High Sheriff of Surrey, Adrian White, whose theme for his year in office is road safety.
They will be put up in Ewell, Merstham, Woodhatch, Westhumble, Holmwood, South Earlswood, Artington and West End.
Ten further signs could be installed at other locations.
Mr White said: "Those who need the reminder of vehicle-activated signs, cameras and road-calming measures, must learn to live with them to prevent others, or perhaps themselves, dying."
The sites for the new signs have seen five fatal accidents in the past three years, the county council said.
They were chosen in conjunction with Surrey Police and the Surrey Safety Camera Partnership.
The locations are:
The A240 Kingston Road in Ewell.
The A23 London Road North at the junction with Shepherds Hill, in Merstham.
The C226 Pendleton Road at Woodhatch, near Reigate.
The A24 London Road at the junction with Burford Bridge roundabout, in Westhumble, near Dorking.
The A24 at the junctions with Holmwood View Road, Mid Holmwood, and the D551 Horsham Road, at Holmwood Corner.
The A2044 Woodhatch Road in South Earlswood, near Redhill.
The A3100 Portsmouth Road at Artington, near Guildford.
The A319 Bagshot Road at West End, near Woking.
