Police pledge on mini-motorbikes
Complaints about mini-motorcycles being driven on footpaths and in parks around Horley, Surrey, have led police to warn that bikes can be seized.

Officers said there had been reports of teenagers riding the miniature-sized motorbikes, as well as motorised scooters, and off-road motorcycles.

The problem affects the Court Lodge and Balcombe Road areas, Pc Mark Fulham said.

He said it was a nuisance to residents and put riders and others at risk.

"It is both unsafe and illegal to drive mini-motorcycles in any public space," he said.

"That means that anyone riding one in a public place such as a road or in a recreation area is breaking the law and could be liable for prosecution under the Road Traffic Act."

He added: "Residents should be reassured that the problem is being dealt with as a priority."

Mini-motorcycles can be used in private areas at the permission of the landowner, he said.
