David Gray was given a huge overdose of the painkiller diamorphine
An out-of-hours medical care provider serving Great Yarmouth and Waveney has been taken over by another company.
Take Care Now was criticised when a patient in Cambridgeshire was accidentally killed with a painkiller overdose by a German locum.
Harmoni HS has taken a "controlling interest" in Take Care Now, which means NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney will receive a new out-of-hours GP service.
An NHS spokesman said the change came at no extra cost.
Dr Sushil Jathanna, chief executive of NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney, said: "We have completed a thorough assessment of the provision which Harmoni offers, and are fully confident that this change will ensure our patients continue to receive a safe and consistent out-of-hours service."
Harmoni said it would continue to use local GPs to provide the Great Yarmouth and Waveney out-of-hours service.
Take Care Now was heavily criticised by the NHS and in parliament after a Cambridgeshire coroner recorded a verdict of unlawful killing on David Gray, who was given a morphine overdose by Dr Daniel Ubani.
