Falling tree traps pair in car

Two people had to be rescued from a car when a tree fell on it in Suffolk.

Emergency services were called just before midday to reports a tree had fallen on a car in Denmark Road, Lowestoft.

Suffolk Fire Service said two people were trapped in the vehicle and firefighters used rescue equipment to free them.

A Suffolk police spokesman said a woman was taken to hospital "to be checked out as a precautionary measure".

He added officers had been busy throughout the day dealing with weather-related incidents such as trees and walls falling down and flooding.
