Pet dies after break-in attempt

A pet rabbit died hours after an attempted break-in at its owners home in Newmarket, Suffolk.

Police said the animal may have been kicked when the would-be burglars came across it in an unlocked conservatory at the property in Exning Road.

The rabbit, which was found collapsed by its owner, was one of a number of pets which lived in the conservatory.

Appealing for witnesses police said the offenders had tried to break into the house overnight on Wednesday.
