Mounted police back to the races

The mounted unit will be returning to deal with the thousands of racegoers

Mounted police will be returning to the racing town of Newmarket in Suffolk to patrol the streets for a night.

Two horses and officers from the City of London Police are joining local police along the High Street on Saturday night.

The extra help is to deal with the thousands of race-goers expected for Sunday's Guineas meeting.

A police spokesman said it was the busiest weekend of the year for the town and officers.

The horses have been funded by the Western Suffolk Community Safety Partnership.
