Door falls off plane mid-flight

KC-135 refuelling plane
The metal panel fell off the wing of a KC-135 operating out of RAF Mildenhall

A landing gear door fell off an aircraft during a US Air Force flight in Suffolk.

The section dropped from the wing of a KC-135 refuelling plane which was flying close to RAF Mildenhall on Wednesday night.

A USAF spokesman said the missing panel was most likely to be found south of the base or aligned with the runway.

The panel measures 1ft (0.3m) by 3ft (0.9m). USAF staff have asked for anyone who finds it to contact them.
