Two homes made from wood in a Suffolk village have been destroyed by a fire and third has been damaged.
The fire broke out in a car in a garage at one of the houses on Cliff Road in Waldringfield near Martlesham and flames spread to a property nearby.
Several houses in the village were evacuated and no-one was injured, a fire service spokesman said.
Crews were hampered by a shortage of water to deal with the fire and two bowsers had to be called to the scene.
Assistant Divisional Officer Simon Hurst said: "Only two pumps were sent at first but when the fire became worse more were called for and at its height eight fire engines were at the scene.
"The flames caught on the second building, made from dry timber, very quickly.
"The properties were emptied of people by the time we got there so there was no smoke inhalation or other problems to deal with."
