New high school gets the go-ahead

Plans for an 1,800-pupil secondary school in a Suffolk town have been approved by the county council.

The school will cater for young people aged 11 to 19 and will be situated on the current Orwell High School site in Felixstowe.

It will mean the closure of Deben and Orwell High schools.

The decision follows a 12-week public consultation which ended in December during which 650 people responded and 200 attended public meetings.
