Warning over series of burglaries

Distraction burglars have struck three times in Suffolk within two days.

Suffolk Police are urging people to be vigilant after residents were tricked into allowing strangers into their houses in Elmswell and Ipswich.

In Friday's incident in Thedwastre Close, Elmswell, near Bury St Edmunds, a man claiming to fix a water problem stole a purse containing cash.

Two burglaries in Ipswich on Saturday saw men trick their way into homes before stealing cash and bank cards.

The first happened in Brooks Hall Road, with the second happening in Boyton Road.

Police urged residents across Suffolk to be "extra vigilant".

They said doors should be locked and identification of any callers should be checked.
