Leisure centre gets £14m revamp

Gym users in Newmarket
There are 60 work stations at the new gym

A leisure complex in Suffolk has opened its doors to the public after a £14m renovation project.

The Newmarket Leisure Centre in Exning Road has a state-of-the-art fitness centre and a new 25m pool, replacing the town's old facility.

As well as the gym, the centre has squash courts, a sports hall and an outdoor synthetic pitch.

Tony Bass from the centre said he believed the facility was a positive change for the people of Newmarket.

"Having had a 1936 pool and a small 22 station gym, they've now got a facility that's all on one site in the middle of town," he said.
