A campaign to save a Suffolk open air swimming pool and reopen is facing a further challenge.

Following a survey of local people on the future of the pool in Beccles, campaigners will present plans to the town council on 8 January.

Waveney District Council will not open the pool later this year but is working closely with the Friends of Beccles Lido to determine if it can be saved.

One plan is to open the pool under a new company - Beccles Lido Limited.

Shaun Crowley, from the company, said: "It is clear from the surveys the people of Beccles want to save their pool.

"With the support and backing of Waveney District Council and the town council we can turn it into a top class leisure facility of which Beccles can be proud."

A final decision on the future of the pool will be taken at a meeting of Waveney District Council on 29 January.
