Woman escapes after dock plunge

A woman is in hospital after her car plunged off the docks into the water at Lowestoft in Suffolk.

The silver Fiat Bravo went off the quayside near the grain silo on Commercial Road just after 1140 GMT.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but the woman managed to escape from the car and swim to safety.

She was taken to the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston, but it is not known the extent of her injuries, said Suffolk Police.

She was only occupant of the car.
