Night flights return to air base

US air crews based at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk are set to resume night training flights.

The US Air Force's 48th Fighter Wing is resuming the flights after a break of several months to allow crews to train with night-vision equipment.

The base said crews flying F-15 fighter jets were required to practise night flights to be ready for operations around the world.

RAF Lakenheath is the largest US Air Force-operated base in England.
