Pupils will return to the St Felix site after half-term

Pupils from a school in Suffolk are beginning their new academic year a week after other children in the county after fire destroyed their school.

The blaze at St Felix Middle School in Newmarket on 5 August led to the demolition of the 35-year-old building.

The children are being taught at three sites in the town until half-term when they will return to their Fordham Road site for lessons in mobile classrooms.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with arson in connection with the fire.

Greg Saddler, St Felix deputy headteacher, said: "E-mails are still coming in from schools offering support, whether it's giving us text books or furniture or offering teachers to come in and support our staff.

"Parents have also been fantastic offering their free time and I'm sure the pupils are going to do us proud as well."
