Man, 36, arrested over sex attack

Police investigating a serious sex assault on a 12-year-old girl in Suffolk have arrested a man.

The 36-year-old man is being held on suspicion of sexual assault in connection with an incident in July this year, a police spokeswoman said.

The incident took place on the old railway line in Haverhill on 24 July.

The man, from Haverhill, is currently in custody at Bury St Edmunds Police Station where he will be questioned by detectives, the spokeswoman added.
