Police investigate arson attack

Police are treating a fire by the back of a house in Suffolk as arson with intent to endanger life.

The fire broke out after someone placed a cardboard box at the back door of a house in Robeck Road, Ipswich, at 2140 BST on Tuesday.

The blaze set fire to the back door, causing extensive damage to its exterior, frame, guttering overhead and part of the wall.

A man at the address smelled smoke, saw the fire and alerted the fire service.

Police officers are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area, or who may have information about the offender, to call Suffolk Police.
