Squatters' eviction looms

Squatters have taken up residence in a £1.1m country house in Suffolk, police have said.

The seven-bedroom Victorian-style property in Great Finborough has been occupied by a group of six people.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police said civil proceedings were under way to force the group to leave.

A spokeswoman for Paul Wright estate agents, which is marketing the property, said its price had been reduced to £1.1m, from £1.65m.

A Suffolk Police spokeswoman said: "The landowner is taking action to get them removed and documents for repossession of the property have been served.

"Our initial reports are that six individuals are involved and we are linking this with previous squats."

A spokeswoman for Paul Wright estate agents said: "It's owned by a London-based company and has recently been renovated.

"It's been empty for a while but we've had a lot of interest in it."
