An e-fit likeness of a man wanted in connection with the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl in Suffolk has been issued by police.

The girl was walking with a friend, also aged 12, along the old railway line in Haverhill last Thursday when they walked past a man.

As they neared the bridge near Water's Edge, the girls were grabbed. One girl fled and the other was assaulted.

Police urged anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact them.

The attacker was described as a white, aged in his 20s or 30s, with short dark hair, and wore sunglasses, blue jeans, a white T-shirt and trainers.

Det Insp Martin Wright, of Suffolk Police, said: "Officers have carried out house-to-house inquiries in the area, and will be identifying and viewing any CCTV from the girls' route into town and back again."
